GREENSBORO, N.C. – The third-seeded Belmont Abbey baseball team took on the top-seeded Mount Olive Trojans in the Conference Carolinas baseball final series. Mount Olive won 6-1, forcing a final game between the Crusaders and the Trojans to determine the conference champion.
Five Crusaders tallied hits in the contest as Nick Beinlich, Colin Rosenbaum, Josh Genthe, Kennan Stanley, and Kayden Krause filled that column. Genthe scored the lone run for The Abbey as he scored on Beinlich's sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Griffin Baker started for the Crusaders, going 4.1 innings allowing five runs on six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Brady Hill came on in relief, collecting two strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work. Trojan starter German Reyes registered his first win of the year throwing 9.0 innings allowing one run on five hits, five walks, and six strikeouts.
Belmont Abbey will play Mount Olive in the final game of the tournament, to determine the champion, Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Elon University.
