BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team notched runs with seven players recording a multi-hit game in their 12-3 win over Anderson Tuesday night. Thomas Yoder and Kevin Elefante both logged three-hit performances while Nick Beinlich, Colin Rosenbaum, Luke Cureton, Jakob Rolly, and Robert Lathrop all notched two-hit games. The win lifts the Crusaders to 6-2 as Anderson moves to 2-3.
Cureton laced 2 RBI doubles in the third and fifth and Elefante drove in two runs with a single to give The Abbey a 6-0 lead after seven innings. Anderson scored three runs in the eighth as they hit three doubles in the inning.
Belmont Abbey exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the right to seal the game. The Crusaders recorded six hits, the biggest being Rolly's two-run home run, his second of the year. Beinlich, Yoder, McGarry, Rosenbaum, and Elefante all doubled to contribute to The Abbey lead.
Belmont Abbey used six pitchers as Drew Goodman took the start. Goodman tossed 4.0 innings allowing only two hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Sam Luchansky was credited with the win, his third of the season. Luchansky threw 2.0 innings allowing only one hit and one walk. Parker MacPhail, Nolan Wilson, Robert Frantzis, and Brady Hill teamed up to secure the win of The Abbey.
Anderson's Austin Todd took the loss, pitching 4.0 innings, giving up four runs on six hits, and three walks.
The Crusaders will travel to Catawba tomorrow for a 4 p.m. game.
