SALISBURY, N.C. – Colin Rosenbaum led the Belmont Abbey baseball team to an extra-innings win over the Catawba Indians Wednesday night. Rosenbaum recorded four hits in the contest including the 2 RBI double that won the game for the Crusaders in the 11th inning. Nick Beinlich also had a multi-hit performance, one of which was his second home run of the year. The Abbey improves to 7-2 on the year and Catawba falls to 1-8.
The Crusaders took an early lead when Thomas Yoder blasted his first home run of the year in the first inning. The Abbey added to their lead in the fourth as Jakob Rolly singled in Luke Cureton, giving the Crusaders a 3-0 advantage.
Catawba tied the game in the fourth utilizing three hits, including two doubles. Beinlich's homer came in the fifth as did Josh Genthe's RBI single, returning the lead to The Abbey. Catawba crawled back, scoring runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the game.
The game would remain tied until the 11th when Rosenbaum stroked a two-run double into left field.
Belmont Abbey used nine pitchers in the contest as Griffin Baker started and went 3.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits and one walk. Cameron Busby entered the game in the ninth and was awarded the win.
Belmont Abbey will open their conference schedule Friday against Emmanuel.
