GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team put on an offensive display in their doubleheader sweep of Limestone. The Crusaders captured game one by the score of 17-4 with 19 hits and won game two 10-4 with 12 hits. The No. 13 Crusaders are 23-5 and 11-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Limestone is 11-14 and 3-5 in league play.
In game one, six Crusaders tallied multi-hit performances with three tallying three hits. Four players went yard for The Abbey in Matt McGarry, Nick Beinlich, Thomas Yoder, and Kevin Elefante. Luke Cureton and Beinlich both drove in three runs with three other Crusaders driving in a pair each.
Belmont Abbey platted three runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third and fourth, five in the fifth, four in the seventh, and one in the eighth. Luke Cureton laced two doubles as did McGarry, Beinlich, Rosenbaum, and Robert Lathrop.
Cameron Busby recorded his sixth win of the season tossing seven innings allowing two earned runs on 10 hits, one walk, with four strikeouts.
In game two the hit parade continued as four Crusaders registered multi-hit games. Beinlich, Cureton, Josh Genthe, and Elefante all left the yard with Rosenbaum and Elefante hitting doubles. Four Crusaders drive in two runs.
Belmont Abbey scored a run in the first, four in the second, two in the third, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh. Jeff Thompson received his third win of the year pitching 4.2 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits, two walks, with eight strikeouts.
Belmont Abbey is back in action tomorrow for the series finale vs Limestone at 1 p.m.
