Baseball Ranked Fifth in the Country

DALLAS, TEXAS – The Belmont Abbey baseball team has been ranked fifth in the country by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Previously ranked 13th the Crusaders jump up to the fifth spot after a 4-0 week in which they defeated Carson-Newman and Limestone.

The Abbey is off to a 24-5 start holding a 12-3 record in Conference Carolinas. The Crusaders among the top 10 in the country in 13 statistical categories holding the number one spot in runs (282), hits (347), doubles (86), and sac flies (23). Belmont Abbey is second in the country in base on balls (161) and home runs (43) as well as third in the country in doubles per game (2.97), fielding percentage (.980), and scoring (9.7).

Belmont Abbey leads Conference Carolinas in 14 statistical categories as they sit in second-place behind North Greenville.

Individually, 10 Crusaders are in the top 10 in the country in statistically categories with Luke Cureton leading the country in doubles (18), Matt McGarry leading in runs (40), and Thomas Yoder on top of the sac Fly category (6).
