McGarry and Cureton Named All-Region

WINGATE, N.C. – Matt McGarry and Luke Cureton have been named Second-Team All-Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced today. The two Crusaders join six other Conference Carolinas players named to the all-region teams. This is the second year in a row that two Crusaders were placed in the all-region team.

McGarry, the senior second basemen from San Diego, Ca. started all 49 games for The Abbey earning First-Team All-Conference Carolinas. McGarry led the team with 22 stolen bases as he hit .351 on the season. McGarry also collected 60 runs and 13 doubles.

Cureton was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year as well as earning First-Team All-Conference Carolinas honors. The senior from Indianapolis, In. hit .376 with 24 doubles, 12 home runs, and 56 RBI. Cureton led the team with a .710 slugging percentage.

Belmont Abbey advanced to the NCAA Southeast Reginal for the second time in three years.
