Crusader Offense Explodes in 22-16 Win at Barton

WILSON, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team put on an offensive performance in the first game of the conference series against Barton Friday. The Abbey totaled 25 hits including eight home runs to outscore the Bulldogs 22-16. Belmont Abbey improves to 11-15 on the year with a 4-7 Conference Carolinas record as Barton moves to 17-11 and a 5-5 league record.


Richard DeLaCruz led off the game with his first home run of the season followed immediately by Ben Gobbel's first four-bagger to open the game with back-to-back dingers.

Jakob Rolly, Mason Dodd, and Ben Sneider all blasted two home runs in the game.

Rolly went 5-for-5 with five RBI.

Dodd was 5-for-7 with six runs driven in.

Sneider collected three RBI on his three hits.

Gobbel tallied four hits and four runs driven in.

The Abbey scored three runs in each of the first two frames followed by a six-run third inning.

The Crusaders struck for six runs again in the sixth.

Griffin Baker earned his fourth win of the year tossing 5.2 innings striking out seven.

Alex Nodarse struck out two in 2.1 innings.
