High Leads Crusaders to Conference Tournament Win

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The fifth-seeded Belmont Abbey baseball team defeated the eighth-seeded Chowan Hawks in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament Wednesday. The Crusaders (25-22) outscored the Hawks (12-25-1) 9-3 to advance in the tournament hosted by North Greenville.


The Abbey scored six runs in the third inning and added three runs in the eighth.

Jakob Rolly and Zach Aehlert both tallied two hits in the contest.

Ben Gobbel and Aehlert both crushed home runs for the Crusaders.

Mason Dodd, Rolly, and Matty Bapst also drove in runs during the win.

Sam High pitched 8.0 innings striking out eight.

Jason White pitched the ninth and fanned two.

The Crusaders will face the number two seed Barton Thursday at 3 PM in Tigerville.
