Crusaders Score Two in the Ninth to Force Extras

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team rallied to the tie game up in the ninth to send the game into extra innings Friday night. Sean Johnson recorded the two-out RBI in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at three. Belmont Abbey's record is now 1-7 and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Emmanuel is 2-5 on the year with a 1-0 league record.


  • The Abbey took the lead in the fifth innings with Gobbel's RBI single.
  • Emmanuel scored two runs in the eight and one in the ninth to take a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
  • The Crusaders pushed two runs across to send eh game into extra innings.
  • Belmont Abbey collected six hits in the game with Mason Dodd and Ben Gobbel both recording two hits.
  • Gobbel and Johnson both drove in runs in the contest.
  • Griffin Baker started on the hill for The Abbey throwing six innings, allowing two hits, no runs, walking four, and striking out 10.
  • Will Carney tossed the final 1.2 innings recording a strikeout.
