Crusaders Win 8-5 in Series Opener vs Erskine

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team took game one from the Erskine Flying Fleet 8-5 Friday evening. The Crusaders collected 11 hits with home runs from Mason Dodd and Adam Overcash. The Abbey improves to 4-9 on the year with a 2-2 Conference Carolinas record. Erskine is now 6-6 with a 0-1 league record.


·       Kale Rhame, Overcash and Dodd all had two hits in the game.

·       Overcash's three RBIs led the Crusaders.

·       Jason White started on the hill for The Abbey throwing 6.1 innings allowing seven hits while striking out eight in his first win.

·       Joe Cooney came on in relief tossing 1.2 innings fanning three.

·       Austin Hunter earned his third save pitching the final frame.

·       Matty Bapst and Patrick Taylor both laced double in the series opener.
