PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Three different Belmont Abbey players scored goals and sophomore Xanthe Rademeyer tallied two assists, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 victory over Molloy in field hockey action Thursday night. The game was played on the campus of Pace University.
Anna Fleetwood earned her second career shutout, saving both of the shots on goal she faced. Belmont Abbey (3-8) held a 19-5 lead in shots overall, including 13-2 on goal. The Crusaders also held a decisive 9-2 margin on penalty corners.
Haley Dietrich tallied her fourth goal of the season with 7:44 left in the first when she tipped in a Rademeyer shot from the top of the circle. The score remained 1-0 until a successful penalty corner just over eight minutes into the second half doubled the lead to 2-0. Tyla Goodsell-Matthews took the pass on the restart from Nicole Wong and sent it through the defense for her team-leading eighth goal of the year.
The final tally came with 4:22 left when Rademeyer's pass set up Savanna Gabriele for her fourth goal. Open in front of the net, Gabriele knocked in the pass from the right side to make the final score 3-0.
Belmont Abbey continues its New York trip Friday when it squares off against Pace.
