Crusaders Hang Tough Against No. 10 Lindenwood

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey battled 10th-ranked Lindenwood throughout much of the contest, allowing just one goal in the opening half before falling 3-0 in ECAC Division II Field Hockey League action Thursday.

Paige Hinds made seven saves in goal for the Crusaders, who were outshot 17-1 overall and 10-1 on goal. Madison Ensley tallied BAC's only shot, which was saved by Skyler Starbeck.

Lindenwood (6-0, 4-0) opened the scoring 15:55 into the contest on a rebound off a Hinds save. The score stayed that way until the second half, when the Lions scored six minutes in and again five minutes later.

Belmont Abbey (5-4, 2-2) returns to action tomorrow for another ECAC matchup, hosting Bellarmine at 3 p.m. at Alumni Field. The tilt kicks off the Crusaders' Homecoming weekend.
