ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Paige Hinds made seven saves, but a pair of first-half goals sent Belmont Abbey to a 3-0 setback at Lindenwood in ECAC Division II Field Hockey League action Friday night. Savanna Gabriele had two shots to lead the Crusaders' offensive attack.
Lindenwood (12-2, 8-1 ECAC) opened the scoring just 3:01 into the contest on a deflection. The Lions added a goal at the 11:40 mark to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. A goal just over three minutes into the second period made the final score 3-0.
The Crusaders, who did not use any substitutes in the contest due to injuries, held strong in the second half despite being outshot 24-5 overall.
The regular season concludes on Saturday at Bellarmine. A win would send the Crusaders to the league tournament in their first year of eligibility.
