SALISBURY, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey's golfers trimmed 23 strokes off yesterday's first round, finishing Tuesday with a team score of 304. That left the Crusaders with a total of 631 over the 36 holes, good for 12th place in the team standings.
Michael Mead shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday to lead The Abbey. He finished tied for 31st overall with a score of 152 (80-72). Brody Davis carded a 75 for a two-day total of 154 (t39), while Colin Reno posted the best improvement from yesterday with a 76 to place 62nd (86-76=162). Olivier Arsenault finished 66th (84-81=165) with Philip Telsrow rounding out the score with a pair of 84s (168) for a tie for 67th.
Lincoln Memorial won the event with a two-day total of 581 (296-285). Brad Robinson of Lenoir-Rhyne was the medalist at six-under 138 (68-70).
In between two major regional competitions, Head Coach Jason Gault took the opportunity to gain experience for several players who have seen limited action this year. The Crusaders head to the Southern Tide Invitational next week at the Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, S.C.
