Trio of Crusaders Posts Singles Wins over Anderson

BELMONT, N.C. -- A trio of Crusaders picked up singles wins, but it was not enough as Anderson posted a 6-3 men's tennis victory over Belmont Abbey Friday afternoon at the Reidy Tennis Center.

The Crusaders earned singles wins at No. 3 as James Delaney posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over his opponent, while George Barfoot earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4. The final point came at No. 6, where Carlos Nolasco Morena took three sets to survive a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 decision.

"Today we dropped a tight match to a very tough Anderson squad," Head Coach Michael Salomon said. "They outplayed us in a few key moments of the doubles matches, which gave us a big hole that we couldn't quite dig back from in singles. We have been working quite a bit on our doubles and it showed today with three very competitive back and forth matches, but we still have some improvements to make to get where we want to be.

"It was nice to see both the Brits (Delaney and Barfoot) with solid straight-set singles wins, as well as another tight three-set victory for Carlos Nolasco. We are really looking forward to rebounding tomorrow and bringing every last bit of energy we have against Limestone."
