The Belmont Women's Outdoor Track team finished sixth out of nine teams at today's Campbell Invitational. Lucy Schmitz finished third overall and first among Division II runners in the 3000 Meter Run. Her 10:31.85 time put her ahead of five Division I runners, including four from host Campbell. Elizabeth Labun also ran in this event, and finished with a time of 11:17.94 respectively.
Other distance events for the Abbey were Julia Otranto, completing the 800 Meter run 2:28.91 and Amber Arias needing just 13:19.54 to complete the 3000 Meter Steeplechase.
In the discus, Desenia Sanchez's 28.98m throw beat out two Mt Olive throwers.
On the men's side, the team finished in a tie for ninth place out of 11 teams. Michael Koceja earned himself a top-10 finish in the 200 Meter Dash, with a 22.99 sprint. Only one Division II runner finished ahead of him. Alex Abalos also ran this race with a 23.39 run.
Elsewhere in the sprints, Koceja ran a 11.22 100 Meter Dash, while Abalos had an 11.67 race.
In the 800 Meter Run, Joe Thierfelder clocked a 1:58.76 run, good enough for seventh overall. Teammate Patrick Lester was right behind him in eighth place with a 2:00.69 run. Both of these two finished in front of two Division I runners.
Thomas Eichorn completed the 3000 Meter Steeplechase in 10:40 and competed only against Division I runners in this event.
