The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team wrapped up the McKendree Crossover Tournament with a 3-0 loss to the hosts this morning in Lebanon, Illinois. Scores were 25-27, 22-25 and 22-25. McKendree improves to 8-17 while the Abbey drops to 3-19.
Belmont Abbey hit .044 as Evan Young and Brennan Beyner both led the offense with six kills. Beyner also had a service ace. Spencer Fournell and Robert Nixon both added five kills and Derek Sullivan posted 14 assists with Johnny Gomez adding 11.
Gomez's six digs led the Abbey with Jon Lowenhagen adding four. At the net, Young rejected four solos, while Lowenhagen totaled four blocks-one solo and three assisted-and Beyner had three assisted.
Belmont Abbey is back home Tuesday when it plays the penultimate home match of the year against Limestone. First serve is 7:00 p.m.
