The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team hit .683 as junior Brennan Beyner led all players with ten kills as the Crusaders opened the program's fourth season of play with an easy 3-0 road victory at St. Andrews in the season opener for both teams. St. Andrews was playing its inaugural match. Scores were 25-6, 25-15 and 25-10.
The Crusaders smacked down 37 kills on 53 attacks with just four errors as Beyner was the only player to reach double figures, recording 10 on 14 attacks with one error. Gavin Schaffer added eight on 15 attacks with one miscue (.467) with Justin Snyder adding five. Setter Peter Stewart handed out 15 assists with Derek Sullivan recording six.
Defensively the Crusaders held the Knights to a .000 attack while recording 19 digs and four total blocks. Beyner's six digs led all players, with Stewart and Robert Valentine adding three each.
Snyder recorded a pair of block solos with Schaffer and Dustin Buell adding one each.
Belmont Abbey is back in action Thursday when it goes on the road to face Emmanuel in a Conference Carolinas matchup.
