Crusaders Split in Final Day of AVCA Challenge

BEREA, KY - The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team split on the final day of the AVCA Challenge in Berea, KY. The Crusaders improved to 10-8 overall and completed the season sweep over Alderson Broaddus. The Abbey was dropped by #3 in NAIA Graceland in straight sets (16-25, 21-25, 21-25) in the first match but atoned their loss with a four set (25-21, 30-32, 27-25, 28-26) win over the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus.

On the day, the Crusaders were led offensively by Nolan Albrecht who tallied 39 kills on 87 swings for a .402 clip. Albrecht was helped by Justin Snyder with 11 kills on 20 attacks to hit .450 and Dustin Buell who added 11 kills on 18 attempts with 0 errors for a .611 clip. Derek Sullivan added 79 assists and 3.5 blocks.

Graceland was led by Steven Roschitz who tallied 12 kills and added one ace and one block. Silila Tucker dished out 38 assists and seven digs.

Alderson Broaddus was paced by Kody Deiter who added 39 assists. Obenda Besongngem led the Battlers with 18 kills, three aces and three blocks. Erik Arroyo had 20 digs.

The Crusaders are back in action Friday, March 18th against Charleston (W.V.) at 7 P.M. in the Wheeler Center!
