Men's Volleyball Defeats Mount Olive in First Home Conference Playoff Game, 3-1

BELMONT, NC - The Belmont Abbey College men's volleyball team improved to 18-10 overall and 11-7 in Conference Carolinas play with a four set (25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 26-24) win over the Trojans of Mount Olive (12-12 overall, 11-7 CC). With the win, the Crusaders advance for the first time in program history to the semi-final round of Conference Carolina playoff action.

Senior outside hitter Nolan Albrecht led the Crusaders with 12 digs and 24 kills hitting a .322 clip. Junior outside hitter notched a .375 hitting efficiency. Sophomore libero Robert Valentine added 11 digs and four assists while senior setter Derek Sullivan dished out 44 assists and an ace.

Mount Olive opposite Robert Poole led all attackers with 27 kills and a .524 efficiency.

Both teams recorded six blocks and 43 digs.

With the win, the Crusaders travel to tournament host Erskine as Belmont Abbey takes on the Flying Fleet for another rubber match. Belmont Abbey and Erskine will square off Friday, April 22 at 5:00 PM.
