The Belmont Abbey College Men's Cross Country Team placed 10th in a field of Regionally Ranked teams at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte on Saturday morning at the UNC Charlotte Invitational. The team scored 275 points for their 10th place finish. The meet was won by Columbus State (#2 in the SE REGION) followed by Georgia Regents (#4 in the SE REGION) by a score of 80 to 82.
Tim Gill was the top finisher for the Crusaders. He placed 11th with a time of 26:19. The event was won by UNC Pembroke Graduate and several time All American, Pardon Ndhlovu, who covered the 8000m course in 24:46. The collegiate finisher was Felix Duchampt of Queens, with a time of 25:16.
Dustin Stewart (40th, 27:26), Frank Spicer (63rd, 28:28), Mike Rogers (79th 29:03), and Ryan Caulley (82nd, 29:21) rounded out the Top 5 scorers for the team. Darren Balkey (84th, 29:25) and Sidney Smith (90th, 29:45) filled out the Top 7. There were 115 finishers in the event.
