The Belmont Abbey Men's Cross Country squad competed in the 8K Royals Challenge today at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, NC.
The gravel path helped neutralize the weather conditions, especially for sophomore Thomas Eichorn, whose 28:39.1 race was the best of his career. Sophomore Connor Buhrmeister was next in line for the Crusaders at 29:03.6. He finished in front of teammate Darvy Soignet by six spots, as Soignet crossed the finished line at 29:13.4.
Head Coach Nick Radkewich shared some of his thoughts on the meet: "It was great to see Thomas Eichorn's hard work this season pay off with a big career 8km best. Darvy Soignet also set a personal best, running an aggressive race from the start. Overall it was a good return to racing for the men after 3 weeks of hard training in preparation for the Conference Carolinas Championship October 21st."
The Crusaders will next compete on October 21 in the Conference Carolinas Championship. The race will take place at Frank Liske Park in Concord, NC.
