Men's Cross Country Competes at Southeast Regional Championship

The Belmont Abbey men's cross country team participated at the Southeast Regional Cross Country Championship this morning in Montevallo, AL.  It was the team's final event of the 2016 campaign.

The Crusaders finished the 10K race with an average time of 36:49.63.  Leading the way was sophomore Thomas Eichorn, who clocked a 35:27.25 run.

Next in line for the Abbey was sophomore Darvy Soignet, with a 36:00.34 race.  Just six spots behind Soignet was sophomore Justin Haggerty, who ran the event in 37:25.06.

Sophomores Nicholas Snell (37:35.22) and Trey Heavener (37:40.26) rounded out the field.

After the meet, Head Coach Nick Radkewich offered the following: "The men performed very well at the 10km distance, their longest race of the year.  Thomas Eichorn and Nick Snell posted improved performances over last year's regional meet by minutes.  Four of the five men set 8km personal best's while running the 10km distance including strong debuts at the by Justin Haggerty, Trey Heavener and Darvy Soignet.  The men improved greatly as a team from last year's regional where we didn't run a full team.  I look forward to the runners buidling on this performance over the next couple weeks in preparation for the first indoor track meet of the season, the College Kickoff Classic at JDL in Winston Salem, December 3rd."
