Downing, Kuhlman Lead Crusaders to 68-67 Comeback Win

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Allie Downing and Maria Kuhlman combined for 19 fourth-quarter points, as Belmont Abbey earned a 68-67 comeback win at King this afternoon.  The victory puts the Crusaders at 7-1 on the year, with a 3-0 Conference Carolinas record.  The Tornado are now 3-4 overall, and 1-1 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • King led throughout the first half, and 36-28 at halftime
  • The Tornado maintained the lead throughout the third, and led by as many as 16 in the fourth
  • Then the Crusaders stormed back, outscoring King 25-6 in the last seven minutes.  Downing scored nine points in the fourth, and Kuhlman scored 10
  • Downing finished the night with a game-high 22 points.  Kuhlman added 16 points.  Keyanna Spivey scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds
