Women’s Golf Finishes Third at the Battle at the Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- The Belmont Abbey Women's Golf team carded a final round 348, and finished third place at the 2016 Battle at the Beach. The tournament is hosted by Tiffin University and was being held at the 5,866-yard par 72 Myrtlewood Golf Club's Pinehills Course. 

The Crusaders finished 36 shots from the champion, Indiana Tech. Tiffin shot 324 in round two and moved up from fourth to second place. Bellarmine finished fourth, one shot behind Belmont Abbey.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Gribbon finished in a tie for 2nd, after carding a 10-over-par 82. Gribbon had a two day total of 160.

Junior Anne Parlmer tied for 13th in the tournament with a second round 88 for a total of 173. Freshman Jamie Treece recorded the second lowest second round score for Belmont Abbey, recording a 87. She finished tied for 15th place overall.

The Crusaders will return to action on March 20-21 at the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge. The event will be contested at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation in Charlotte, NC.
