Two Crusaders Named Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse midfielder Katelin Glass and sprinter Liz Thierfelder have been named the Conference Carolinas Spring Scholar Athletes of the Year in their respective sports, the conference announced today.

Glass, a senior from Lake Worth, Fla., graduated earlier this month with a 3.8 GPA and a double major in Sport Management and Educational Studies.  She was also named to the Academic All-Conference team this year.  Glass scored 36 goals on the year, and handed out 15 assists for a total of 51 points, en route to first-team all-conference recognition.

Thierfelder, a senior from Gastonia, also graduated in May with a 3.54 GPA with a double major in Theology and English.  She also received Academic All-Conference honors this season.  Thierfelder was the Conference Carolinas Women's Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the 800-meter run, which she ran in a school-record time of 2:15.8.  She also competed on the team's 4x400m relay team at the conference championships.
