The Belmont Abbey wrestling team lost a tough 19-16 decision at Limestone this evening at the Timken Center. The Crusaders fall to 1-2 in dual matches, while the Saints improve to 1-0.
Belmont Abbey bolted out to a 13-0 lead after three matches as the dual started at 184. Marcus Dwaileebe picked up a major decision win, followed by Kelly Baker's 4-3 win at 197. Glenn Cothren then earned a first period pin fall to up the Abbey's lead to 13-0.
Limestone fought back to win the next four matches, three by decision and the other by a major decision to take the lead at 13-10.
Jake Glunt stopped the Saints momentum with a 7-5 win at 157 to knot the dual at 13 with just two matches left.
At 165, Brandon Wilkins suffered a heartbreaking 10-8 loss in double overtime to put the Saints ahead 16-13. With one match left and the Abbey needing a decision to bring the dual to a 16-16 stalemate, Limestone ended the match with a 10-4 win to seal a 19-16 win.
