BELMONT, N.C. - The Belmont Abbey wrestling team opened up the 2017 schedule against ECAC opponent Limestone. The Crusaders won four matches utilizing one decision, two major decisions, and a fall. The Saints edged out the Crusaders 26-17.
The Crusaders (5-5, 1-2 ECAC) opened the match with an energetic bout at 125 as Michael Bedard recorded the major decision 21-13 over Limestone's Majid Corbit. The win was Bedard's fifth of the season and his second major decision.
Greg Hilliard won the 157 weight class with a pin at 4:03. The fall was Hilliard's eighth if the season and his 11th win of the season.
Jake Glunt followed with a win in the 165 weight class, recording a 17-4 major decision. The MD was Glunt's third of the season in his eighth win.
Chaas Delgado wrapped up the night with a win in the 285 weight class securing the 8-1 decision over Cody Vandeline of Limestone (4-1, 1-0 ECAC).
The Crusades are back in action Saturday as they host East Carolina and Middle Tennessee in a tri-match. East Carolina will compete against Middle Tennessee at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Crusades against East Carolina at 3:00 p.m. and Middle Tennessee at 5:00 p.m.
