BELMONT, N.C. -- Allyson Elliott scored a pair of second-half goals and Nicole Ferren dished out two assists, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 4-0 win over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action Wednesday at Alumni Field.
Belmont Abbey (9-2-1, 6-1) dominated play all afternoon, holding a 20-2 advantage in shots (14-1 on goal) and a 13-1 lead in corner kicks.
Cierra Skyers opened the scoring for The Abbey at 13:15 when she finished a corner kick with a shot off a NGU defender. Ferren started the action, connecting perfectly at the top of the penalty box. North Greenville was able to fight off any further damage in the period, despite being outshot 7-0 in the period.
The Crusaders doubled the lead just 1:41 into the second half. Tallee Zamiela gained possession of a loose ball at the top of the penalty area, dribbled through the defense and rocketed a shot off the post from 10 yards out. Elliott's tallies came at 56:43 off a rebound and at 81:23 off another Ferren corner kick.
Belmont Abbey returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Lees-McRae at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field.
