BELMONT, N.C. -- Emily Raines, an assistant coach with the Belmont Abbey tennis programs for two years, has been elevated to the position of Associate Head Women's Tennis Coach, Head Coach Michael Salomon announced today. The promotion is effective immediately.
"Since her first day on the job, Coach Raines has made such a major positive impact on our program culture and development that I think her move to Associate Head Women's Coach is exceptionally well-deserved," Salomon said. "She has been such a huge part of our success and I couldn't be more excited for her to continue enhancing the Crusader tennis experience."
Raines, previously Emily Bolchoz, joined The Abbey after one year as an instructor at Admiral's Cove Country Club in Jupiter, Fla. She competed collegiately at Mount St. Mary's where she finished her career third all-time in singles wins (71) and second all-time in doubles (57). Raines still holds the school's season record for singles wins with 24, while ranking tied for second with 19 doubles wins in one year.
"I'm very excited to be named Associate Head Women's Tennis Coach and grateful for the opportunity to continue working with such an amazing group of young ladies," Raines said. "A big part of why I love working at Belmont Abbey is the focus on a culture of excellence as well as individual development, and I am looking forward to seeing what the team is able to achieve this season!"
Raines graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Mount St. Mary's in 2011.
