Schmitz Wins Mile & Crisci Breaks School Mark In 200 Meters To Lead Women's Indoor Track & Field At Winston-Salem D2 Invitational

Two school records were broken as Bri Crisci broke the school record in the 200 meters and Desenia Sanchez did the same in the shot put to lead the Crusaders women's Indoor Track & Field team at the Winston-Salem D2 Invitational this afternoon at the JDL Fast Track.

Senior Lucy Schmitz took home first place in the mile as she posted a mark of 5:21.48, winning by five full seconds. Freshman Elizabeth Labun was fifth at 5:44.

Crisci finished third in the 200, breaking her own school record that she set last week, crossing the line at 26.51 for the new mark.

Freshman Amber Arias raced to fourth in the 800 meters in 2:38.32. Kaitlin Howard was tenth at 2:57.06.

In the last of the running events, the team of Arias, Julia Otranto, Liz Thierfelder and Crisci raced to fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:20.97.

In the field events,Sanchez finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 9.53 meters, a new school record that she originally set last year. Lauren Morrow was eighth at 7.44 meters.
