Women's Track and Field Complete Season at Conference Championships

BANNER ELK, NC – The Belmont Abbey women's track and field program competed in the Conference Carolinas Championship Finals this afternoon. The team finished with a total of 51 points just behind Pfeiffer who accumulated 52 points. Mount Olive finished in first place with 211 overall points.

Senior Brien Crisci competed in the 100m dash and finished 5th overall with a time of 12.61. Crisci would also compete in the 200m dash where she earned a spot on the podium in 3rd place with a time of 25.15 her personal best all season.

Junior, Liz Thierfelder, would also compete in the 200m dash and finished right behind Crisci in 4th with a time of 25.27 which is a personal best on the season. Thierfelder would not be done as she dominated the 400m dash and finish in 1st with a time of 56.77 earning nearly a second off of her personal best of the season.

Senior Lucy Schmitz shaved over 23 seconds off of her preliminary run in the 1500m run and earned herself a silver medal with a time of 4:57.59.

Freshman Amber Arias competed alone in the 3000m steeplechase and finished with a time of 13:23.91.

In the 4x400m relay the crusaders would finish 6th overall with a time of 4:05.16 as Amanda Steiner would lead in the first leg followed by Thierfelder, Julia Otranto, and finally Crisci.

Lauren Morrow and Desenais Sanchez would be the lone duo competing in shot put as Morrow threw 8.25m. Sanchez would foul out of the event bouncing back however and competed in the discus throw with a distance of 27.75m while Morrow would throw 26.38m respectively.
