The Belmont Abbey Women's Indoor Track & Field teams set two school records at today's JDL Kickoff Classic in Winston-Salem, NC.  Senior Liz Thierfelder ran the 400m in 58.42 seconds, which earned her a 5th- place finish among 69 runners in that event.  Freshman Maya McQune, in her first collegiate meet, set the school record in the 200m, where her 26.45-second race gave her a 15th-place finish.  Abigail Dixon (29.46), Genevieve Hicken (31.49), and Amanda Harrison (32.86) also competed in this event.

In the mile run, freshman Hannah Zenker led the Crusaders with a 5:39.51 race, good enough for 14th place out of 34 runners.  Fellow freshman Anna Hetzel was just three spots behind Zenker, with a 5:48.3 run.  Hetzel was the Abbey's leader in the 3000m, which she completed in 11.27.2, a 17th-place finish among 38 competitors.

The Belmont Abbey 4x400 Relay team of McQune, Savannah Lamb, Brette Linkenhoker, and Julia Otranto completed their event in 4:28.74.

In the shot put, Desenia Sanchez threw for 8.75m while Natalie Nelson threw 8.19m.

Head Coach Nick Radkewich offered the following comments after the meet "Liz Theirfelder started off her senior campaign right where she left off last spring with a 5th-place finish and 58.4 time in the 400 meter dash.  Freshman Maya Mcqune posted strong finishes in the 200 meter dash, 60 meter dash and lead off the 4x40p meter relay."

The team will next compete at the Wake Forest Invite, which will also take place at the JDL Fast Track, on January 21.
