ROCK HILL, SC - The Belmont Abbey women's Track & Field team finished up its competition at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational today.
Senior Liz Thierfelder had an excellent 800m race, which she completed in 2:19.10, good enough for fifth place overall and second among division II runners. It was a Belmont Abbey College record for the event. Freshman Hannah Zenker made a top-20 finish in this event as well with a 2:33.53 run.
Freshman Anna Hetzel ran in both the 800m (2:39.10) and the 1500m, which she finished in 5:17.65, and was in the event's top third.
Head Coach Nick Radkewich commented on the day, stating: "Liz ran very well, stepping up in distance from her usual 400m event. She dropped over two seconds from her previous school record in winning her heat. I thought Annie Hetzel had an outstanding outdoor debut, running a personal best in the 1500m race and coming back about 90 minutes later running a collegiate best in the 800m event."
The Crusaders will next compete in the Vertklasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University, on March 31 and April 1.
