Belmont Abbey sophomore outside hitter Hannah Schellenberg hit .550 and led all players with 12 kills as the Crusaders women's volleyball team earned an easy 3-0 sweep of the visiting Lees-McRae Bobcats this evening. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22 and 25-9. Belmont Abbey improves to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Bobcats drop to 1-16 overall and 0-5 in league play.
The Crusaders hit .258 and limited the Bobcats to a -.011 attack as Schellenberg knocked down 12 kills on 20 attempts with just one error. Tori Jensen added nine as she hit .368, while Lydia Schellenberg totaled eight. Abby Stine handed out 17 assists and Gabby Martinez added 13. Stine, Ana Maria Pagan and Dani Fortunato each had two service aces.
Defensively, Pagan and Hannah Schellenberg tied for the match high with ten digs and Lydia Schellenberg added seven. Caitlin Hankins dominated the net with four block solos and a block assist.
