Belmont Abbey senior Lydia Schellenberg hit .391 and younger sister Hannah Schellenberg led the Crusaders with 11 kills as the women's volleyball team won for the thirteenth straight time with a 3-0 sweep at North Greenville this afternoon. Set scores were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20. Belmont Abbey improves to 19-3 overall and 12-1 in Conference Carolinas, while North Greenville drops to 5-22 overall and 3-10 in league play.
Lydia Schellenberg posted nine kills on 23 attacks with no errors to hit .391. The Crusaders hit .296 for the match as only ten of 98 attacks were errors while recording 39 kills. Hannah Schellenberg posted a team-high 11 kills. Tori Jensen and Caitlin Hankins both had six each. Hankins logged a .385 attack as her six kills came on 13 attacks with just one error. Setters Gabby Martinez and Abby Stine handed out 17 and 14 assists, respectively.
Defenisvely, libero Ana Maria Pagan tied for the match high with 11 digs. Lydia Schellenberg added six while Stine and Hannah Schellenberg both had five. Jensen dominated the net, posting three block assists and two that were solo. Dani Fortunato had two assisted and one solo.
The Crusaders are back in action Tuesday night when hosting Pfeiffer at 7:00 p.m, which starts a regular season closing six match homestand.
