GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Cassidy Bonito has been named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, the league office announced today. The award is the first for a Crusader this season.
The setter from Pompano Beach, Fla., led Belmont Abbey to a pair of conference wins in a 3-0 week as the Crusaders surged to their seven victory in the last eight contest. She had double-doubles in both league matches, missing out on a third when she was rested in the final set against Savannah State. Bonito averaged over 10 assists and almost two kills per set, while hitting .325 She also had seven service aces, including a season-high six against Converse. Her 40 assists vs. the Valkyries marked the fifth time she has topped 40 this season.
Belmont Abbey looks to extend its winning streak to six matches overall when it travels to Erskine and Emmanuel this week.
